ImageTrace

ImageTrace is a self-serve tool that lets photographers and image makers monitor the online use of their work and gather evidence when it is reused without permission. It is our own product, live since 2025: not only built for clients, but developed and operated in-house.

The problem

ImageTrace began as an in-house tool for a media company that kept finding its photos reused online without permission. The existing services worked on commission and often took 30 to 50 percent of every settlement, sidelining the very photographers who needed help.

How ImageTrace works

  • Reverse image search and match verification.
  • Turning a found match into court-ready evidence: URL, screenshot, capture, and a customizable letter.
  • The photographer decides the next step: invoice, request a takedown, escalate, or let it go.
  • ImageTrace is deliberately not a law firm and not a collection agency; it provides the detection and the evidence, the photographer stays in control.

The model

One fixed price instead of commission. From EUR 5 per scan, and the photographer keeps 100 percent of what they collect. The conviction: finding your stolen work should not cost you a percentage of your recovery.

How it is built

.NET services for backend and processing, an Angular dashboard for users, and a GDPR-compliant, fully EU-hosted matching engine.

What it shows

ImageTrace runs in production and is maintained by us, not as a demo but as a real product. It reflects the standard we work to: privacy and scalability by default, GDPR-compliant and EU-hosted, built for the long term.
